Helping Style the Teens

Ever wonder what it takes to help style the teens we support? It’s not hard but there are a few things to know before you work hand-in-hand with a teen while styling them for the professional world. Let’s walk through some important things to consider.

The Clothes

The focus of the spree is to find at least one professional outfit from the clothing boutique or the shopping spree at The Rack. This includes anything and everything required to complete the ensemble. Think shoes, socks, undergarments, tie clip, belt, necklaces, earrings, etc.

The Teens

We provide our services to both genders so we do our best to partner up female stylish volunteers with our female teens. We want to respect the trauma that these teens have been through and how the male influences in their lives have often been negative. For the guys, we are good with either men or women volunteers.

Here’s a tip from our training guide.

Things to Do!

Have Fun! Use. Your great personality and abilities to handle the first 15 minutes of awkwardness to show them that even when you don’t know someone, you can still have fun. Getting free and new clothing is a very exciting thing to experience and you helping to get that experience makes your joy shine through.

Every volunteer that spends time helping their teen look amazing in professional clothing leaves the event with a big smile and joy in their eyes. It truly is a rewarding experience because we know that we are changing the trajectory of each teen’s life.
